Full Mouth Restoration refers to a number of procedures that are used in combination to enhance the appearance and functionality of the patient’s mouth. Restorative dental procedures, such as crowns, bridges, veneers, as well as implant dentistry can all be part of a Full Mouth Restoration. The need for a full mouth restoration may stem from teeth that have been lost due to decay or trauma, jaw and facial pain due to misalignment of the teeth, as well as having teeth and gums badly affected by gum disease. When a patient has multiple problems affecting their oral health, a Full Mouth Restoration may be a more effective course of action than trying to treat each issue independently.
A Full Mouth Restoration may be necessary if a patient is missing all or many teeth, has damaged teeth, improperly seated jaw joints and faulty bites, has damage to the gums and other tissues due to advanced gum disease, or has had faulty dental work done in the past. The healthy functioning of your mouth depends upon all of the oral systems working in harmony, such as the upper and lower jaw, teeth, and gum tissues. Problems such as bruxism and disorders of the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) can be addressed during the process of a full mouth restoration. Oral surgery may be necessary to correct some of these issues.
